남의 언어학 공부
About this blog 본문
The title of this blog makes it redundant to further explain the nature/purposes. The title, "남의 언어학 공부," is a grammatical (but less-acceptable) noun phrase in Korean, which can be translated in three senses. (The ambiguity is intentional.)
a. [[남] -의 언어학 공부]
"Nam" -'s linguistics research"
NAM is my last name, so apparently, the blog is for introducing what I study and some results/datasets/codes that are informative but cannot be properly provided via the conventional academic paper-based communication.
b. [[남의] 언어학 공부]
"Other's" linguistics research"
Another purpose of this blog is to write down other researchers' works for my future reference.
c. [[남의 언어] 학 공부]
"Foreign language linguistics learning"
The foreign language here largely means English. I earned my MA degree in "English language and literature," so I might have a slightly different perspective on the Korean language than other students who work in "department of linguistics." Specifically, I have a love-hate perspective to my mother tongue, and even when I research on the language, there must inevitably be a dark shadow of English (or other languages that linguists in the English-speaking countries). However, English is my L2 so I can never be confident about my English intuition.
